Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has announced that it is set to release the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) results next week. “We are finalizing the process for the release of the results,” the Spokesperson UNEB, Jennifer Kalule announced. “We are now handling the award process of the PLE and this will be followed by UCE awards next week. Thereafter we hope to have results released soon,” Kalule added. UNEB Executive Secretary Dan Odongo together with UNEB chairperson Prof Mary Okwakol are expected to brief the education Minister Janet Museveni on students’ performance. A source said the meeting will be held on Tuesday June 22, 2021. According to UNEB, a total of 1,181,940 candidates registered for their final examinations this year. They include 749,807 for Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), 333,766 for the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) ,and 98,367 for the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education-UACE. Briefing of candidates for Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) was held on March 26, with the candidates starting the exams on March 30, ending on March 31 with Integrated Science and English. The marking of the 2020/2021 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) and Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations kicked off at the start of the May in Kampala District. Marking took place in 40 schools, whose students were sent home on April 23 to allow the exercise go uninterrupted with over 600 examiners involved in the exercise.
