Sam Kutesa’s son Ingah Kutesa has been appointed Oman’s Honorary Consul to Uganda. The appointment was last week made by the Oman Foreign Affairs minister Badr Albusaidi. At an event last week presided over by Okello Oryem, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ingah presented his credentials at the Ministry Headquarters in Kampala. Oryem congratulated the envoy, urging him to work on entrenching good relations between the two countries. Speaking at the event, Ingah spoke about his intended focus of effort as he takes up his new position.“My main effort will be geared at promoting trade and investment between the two countries,” he said in an interview. “I will closely work with line labour ministries to iron out the prevailing challenges in the externalization of labour,” he said. Ingah, a businessman, joins his sister Ishta Kutesa Muganga who was last year appointed in a similar position on behalf of Israel. The appointment of Ingah to this position, and his sisters, both have raised scrutiny over whether they are based entirely on merit. Sam Kuteesa has been a major political figure on the political scene of Uganda. he has served as MP Mawogola since 1996 when he occupied the seat.
